Proof Mark-Up Advice:

It is best to use industry standard mark-up symbols when reviewing and marking your proofs. We have created a convenient downloadable PDF file pdf that you can print out and post near your color correction work area.

Notes about reviewing color press proofs:
  • Use a red marker to write comments on the proofs.
  • Clearly indicate whether the correction is a text or color correction.
  • Clearly mark OK on all pages that are approved.
  • If text corrections are requested on the proofs, circle the area of the pages that are involved.
  • The designer should make text corrections to the file and supply new pages on disk with a corresponding printout.
  • The revised printout should be stapled to the proof for reference.
  • A cover letter clearly indicating pages with corrections is appreciated.
When marking color corrections, please be sure your comments are simple and direct. For example: too much magenta, subtract 5% yellow, or please match closer to transparency.

Once you have approved the color proof for an image, you should keep the original art or transparencies. We will use the approved proofs for color reference.

Ozalids

Notes about reviewing ozalid/ plotters/ bluelines:
  • If the corrections are minor our staff in Hong Kong can make the adjustment.
  • If the corrections are extensive and require paragraph adjustments, please make the corrections to the files and supply new pages with laser printout.
  • All minor ozalid corrections will be sent via e-mail to expedite the approval process.
  • If ozalid corrections are extensive, a second round of hard ozalids will be sent for approval.
