Proofing > Types of Proofs

Types of Proofs:

You will receive two different kinds of proofs for each project, color proofs and ozalid proofs (also known as plotters).

The color proofs will be either high-resolution digital Epson proofs on digital paper OR wet proofs (ink on paper proofs) which use the same paper as the final product.

The high-resolution color proofs are the final authority on all issues related to color. You should compare these proofs carefully to your original artwork and transparencies, noting any variations you see.

While the high-resolution color proofs will show individual images, the ozalids will show you imposed pages in correct sequence. Ozalids are not to be used for color guidance.

Additional options:

  • Page proofs-full composed page proofs with bleeds, trim marks, etc.
  • Random proofs-proofs of image files only; images just be the final size and they're ganged up on a large sheet
  • Scatter proofs-full pages proofs of a selected number of pages.
